ABOUT TEAM BUILDING WITH HR EYES

When crisis crashed in 2008-2009, most companies had “pull their belts”. Nevertheless, according to a survey conducted in the United Kingdom, more than 60% of firms thought there were two things to be invested in: leadership training and team building. Why did they attribute such an important role to these processes at this time and how do team building practices evolve today?Paul’s turn in managing the workforce: the Hawthorne researchLet’s start with the explanation of the stove, as labor development has developed a lot in the last century. The previously dominated Taylor approach – that man is a rational, mechanically working “work tool” to be treated as a robot working individual – questioned first among the Hawthorne research during which Elton Mayo was examined between 1924-1933 in the USA ( quite exactly at Western Electric’s hawthorne plant, hence the name). Mayo was wondering how work conditions affect workers’ performance, and there was no reason to wonder at the beginning of the experiment: they found that better conditions (such as light intensity, frequent breaks, etc.) improved performance. The surprise came when it turned out that if the original, worse working conditions were restored, performance would increase. What is the explanation for this? It’s simple: as the conversations and interviews that were under the auspices of the research were felt by the workers, they really did deal with them, their opinions mattered, so they became more motivated. From this point, occupation of people as “human beings” gained momentum, as thorough research also found that the key to high performance lies in the formation of strong group identity based on human relationships. The human relations movementBased on the aforementioned Hawthorne research, the Human Relations Movement was launched, which is the principle that workers are the most effective,

  • if they are motivated,
  • if they identify with the company’s goals,
  • and they are an integral part of the community.

Today, almost every successful company has incorporated this principle into day-to-day operations, leading leadership training and team building to a major role in the corporate world.About team building in a nutshellUndoubtedly, the most valuable assets of every company are the best weapon of its employees – it is therefore indispensable (mainly in today’s Hungary where more and more places are struggling with labor shortages) to make our company satisfied and motivated workers who are capable of performing effective teamwork. But what are the criteria of an effective working group? Among other things …

  • the right communication (both between group members and outside the group),
  • the trust between the members of the group, the ability to help each other,
  • the willingness to consensus,
  • the feeling of belonging, loyalty,
  • the pursuit of efficiency,
  • the sense of individual responsibility
  • and last but not least, the good working spirit and good team spirit.

Taking all this into account, it is clear that the team building plays a prominent role in every life-oriented organization’s life, as a well-organized team building program, a shared, eventful event has a fairly good impact on the team. What is the good team building? After all, the question may be right: is it a good team building? No, the climax of the right team building is not when we look for a timid colleague after a sufficient amount of alcohol on the table while we ourselves are about the functioning of the universe and the theological meaning of our existence is wrapped in broad pupils. While there is no doubt that such an event can be memorable, it is more important that team building builds on cohesion among the staff, while striving to achieve a common goal together. (One of the theses of social psychology is that it is easiest to bring together moderately friendly people when designating a common goal.)Bubble Football as a Team Building Program?Yes, definitely yes! More and more extreme sports are being included in the broader portfolio of team building programs – and FutBall has brought the safest extreme sports, which despite its security thrives in excitement: the professional bubble foci.Among the modern team building programs, the bubble soccer is very much in place, as it is

  • sets a clear common goal for team members (“scramble more goals for the opponent”),
  • in the spirit of which each member collides,
  • so the cohesion is strengthened, the team work is fine, the co-operation comes to the fore,
  • all of which requires continuous communication between team members.

Why is bubble football suitable for team building in most companies?

  • Because it has an excellent stress-relieving effect.
  • Because it is a coeducated game – in the huge bubbles, ladies feel so confident that their balloons are assured of their strength by enthusiastically (and with joy) engaging their male colleagues as well.
  • Because it moves all kinds of muscle groups, which is a separate advantage for the workers who work in seated jobs.
  • Because during the game one of the most popular muscle groups is the group of diaphragms.
  • Because the organizers (ie we) are flexible in adapting to the timing of companies.
  • Because we provide professional equipment, skilled staff and additional services to the games.
  • Because weather is never an obstacle: in good time there are more outdoor tracks available for “clashes”, and in case of bad weather, the fight is indoors. (Of course, we can take out on demand as well.)
  • And that can not be denied, because the subordinates can run to their boss without punishment.
